Wild Swan is the only professional theater company in the Midwest that provides a full live theater experience for audiences of all abilities. With your generous support of this event, you will help fund our innovative disability access programs.

Disability access that goes way beyond wheelchair ramps. Wild Swan Theater broke new ground when we incorporated American Sign Language performers as characters in our plays. We continue to offer one of the most comprehensive audience accessibility programs in the nation. ASL interpretation, audio description, and back-stage “touch tours” allow us to provide a full theater experience for patrons who are blind, deaf, mentally, or physically disabled.

With the support of sponsors like you, we have introduced the magic of theater to over 10,000 special needs patrons since our inception. Please, help us bring the arts to all children while enjoying a night that includes:

Chocolate Tasting by the area’s best chocolatiers: Master chocolate makers from Schakolad, Bab’s Underground, Mindo, Zingerman’s Candy Manufactory, and others will delight and surprise you with unusual and alluring flavor combinations as well as their best sellers.

Savory appetizers, wine and beer from local purveyors: Delicious food from Ann Arbor chefs plus great wine and beer from local cellars and brewers.

Chocolate and Art inspired silent auction: Enjoy bidding on unique experiences and one-of-a-kind items donated by the area’s best restaurants, shops, and artisans. Every dollar spent at the auction directly benefits children in our community!

Every level of sponsorship allows Wild Swan Theater to turn the magic of theater into a life-long love of books, reading, and the arts. Here are just a few ways your sponsorship dollars will support a child:

$5,000 Audio description equipment to enable twenty children who are blind to “hear” the stage action (live, real-time description of the action taking place on stage between the dialogue via headphone system).

$3,000 American Sign Language Interpreters for the run of one production. These skilled actors interpret the text and action for our hearing-impaired audience members.

$3000 Playwright’s development costs for creating an original, professional production.

$1,000 Scholarship support for 10 special needs children to attend our popular Camp DoYaWanna summer drama camp.

$1,000 Scholarships for one hundred and fifty economically challenged youth to attend a live theater production.

$500 Translation of one play into American Sign Language for our interpreters to capture the magic of our plays for our hearing-impaired audience.

$500 Classroom workshops to prepare disabled students to attend a live performance.

$250 Backstage Touch Tours for visually-impaired and other special needs children. Before a performance, parents bring their children on stage for an orientation to the set, to hear the actors’ voices in character, handle props and hear sound effects – all to enhance their experience of the play.
